Northern
Xposure Weekend is a fundraising event in Seattle, during the month
of August. Produced by Rich Kaalaas of Rein Fire Ranch Productions,
and the NX Team of Volunteers, it raises money for the LGBT Youth
in Seattle, in the form of Lambert House, a resource center for those
youth under the age of 23. The weekend includes social time, dancine
and other events, to bring together a group of amazing people to one
of the most beautiful places in the country, during that time of year.
Since
2000, Northern Xposure Weekend has raised over $76,000 for Lambert
House, mainly due to the hard work and generosity of people in our
community and abroad.
Thank
You!
Because
of this amazing effort from our greater group of friends, Lambert
House was able to keep their doors open to the gay youth of today,
who, in the not too distant future, will be the contolling force
in our gay culture. The reason we have chosen to support this non-profit
is that we feet that they are one of the key groups that does not
get focused enough on in the gay community. With this in mind we
decided that our focus for this weekend party/fund-raiser would
be an organization that really helps support kids during a period
of time when they are most vulnerable, and in need of a place to
just feel safe.
After
we completed the weekend in 2003, and added up all the donations,
we had attained a total of $26,000 for Lambert House. A staggering
achievement with all respect to the fact that we do this as mainly
a party for our friends.
In
2004, to take a small breather, we decided to host just a one night
event. At NX-ile SWEAT 2005, co-sponsored with CastroBear, DJ John
LePage rocked the socks off of Seattle. With added help from SWEAT
Model John P, and Gorilla Beach Model Scott G, we raised approx.
$3000 for Lambert House, proving again the generosity of our community.
In
2005, NX5 was a big jump for The Northern Xposure Weekend. Taking
it "Off the Farm, and into the Big City" allowed us to
make the weekend more interactive with the Greater Seattle Gay Community,
and spread the important message of what great work Lambert House
does for the younger members of the GLBT Community. This years event
raised $8000, bringing the grand total to over $66,000, that has
been donated since the year 2000.
2006
was an amazing year, continuing the move into the city, the NX Team
produced a weekend that some called "Flawless" with the
viking theme of "Can't Pillage The Willing". Great weather,
great music, great friends, and a big push for awareness. Bringing
in $10,000, it was not our biggest donation year, but the scopeof
event took a big leap forward. With the support of both Lazybear
Weekend, BigMuscle.com and many others, the weekend featured some
very strong DJ talent, from Kimberly S, Blaine Soileau, John Millier,
DJ Funky Bear, and the premier performance from Sam Andrews, who
rocked the Afterparty, and made a big impact.
After
another break in 2007 for personal reasons, we made the decision
to produce NX08 this year. The Gay Softball World Series being held
in Seattle was one of the main factors, since NX is the weekend
prior. Setting up this "bookend" event we felt would make
for a great time in the Seattle Sunshine!
